Volvo Turns to Blockchain to Track Battery Materials

In order to ensure the raw materials in the lithium ion batteries in its XC40 Recharge are responsibly sourced, Volvo will track them with blockchain technology. So reports Engadget.

Volvo will be working with suppliers LG Chem of South Korea and CATL of China. “The data in the blockchain will include the cobalt's origin, attributes like weight and size, as well as the chain of custody,” reads information in the article.
