El Salvador First Nation to Write Bitcoin Acceptance Into Law

Shortly after President Nayib Bukele proposed it, the Legislative Assembly in El Salvador rubberstamped a bill that will make Bitcoin a legal tender. So reports the Associated Press.

flag 1040590 640The Central American nation is the first in the world to take the step. “The U.S. dollar will also continue to be El Salvador’s currency and no one will be forced to pay in Bitcoin," according to the legislation. However, anyone with the technology to accept Bitcoin as payment must do so.
