SEC Chair Calls for More Resources to Handle Crypto 'Wild West'

Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, called for additional employees at the agency as the crypto space continues to play out like the “Wild West.” So reports Benzinga.

Gensler delivered his comments at a Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government meeting where he pointed to a rapidly growing and changing market as cause for the additional hires. As such, the chairman said he was hoping to add 170 new positions and fully fund the staff hired in 2023.
