Global Payments Stand Out at 2021 FinTech Breakthrough Awards

Market intel organization FinTech Breakthrough named Global Payments the best overall fintech company as part of its fifth annual recognition and awards program.

global paymentsThe awards program is designed to showcase the best companies, technologies and solutions in the space. Categories recognized include those in payments, lending, digital banking, persona finance InsurTech, RegTech, InsurTech and more, according to a press release from the organization.  

“This past year has been unlike any time period ever seen before for FinTech growth and disruption, with FinTechs maturing to become respected, global players throughout the financial services value chain,” said James Johnson, managing director at FinTech Breakthrough. “FinTech is a digital force that has clearly entered a new phase of its evolution, moving out of niche use cases to operation at scale, and we are thrilled to recognize the ‘breakthrough’ FinTech innovators in this market evolution for our fifth annual FinTech Breakthrough Awards program.”

According to the organization, the 2021 awards pulled in more than 3,850 nominees from counties all over the world. Per the announcement, FinTech Breakthrough Award winners include, among others:

  • Best FinTech Startup: Qualia
  • Best FinTech CEO: Greg Ott, Nav
  • Best Overall FinTech Mobile App: Oxygen
  • Best Use of AI in FinTech: Zest AI
  • Best Employee Benefits Solution: Tapcheck
  • Best Overall FinTech Software: OpenFin, OpenFin OS

Each of the FinTech Breakthrough Award nominations get evaluated by a panel of independent experts who operate in the technology and financial services industries. Winners were selected based on their technological advancements and innovation, reads information from the organization.

Best Overall Fintech winner Global Payments provides payments and software solutions for startup companies, according to the company. “Our strategy has created a differentiated model in the payments technology landscape, reinforcing our view that not all payments companies are created equal. Our customers value our capabilities and reach, enabling them to offer seamless payment experiences in-person, online, on device, and over the phone across a wide range of markets,” according to the company.

Qualia, which was named top startup, created an “end-to-end digital real estate closing platform,” according to information from its awards announcement. Generally, point solutions are designed for each part or party involved in a transaction; however, Qualia’s platform is designed to provide a “shared flexible infrastructure for teams to see transactions all the way through from signing to post-closing.”

“Real estate technology is one of the most exciting sectors within the larger FinTech landscape and Qualia is one of the pioneering innovators in this space, helping people and businesses save a significant amount of time and money with breakthrough technology to build a new era of real estate lending,” Johnson said. “By simplifying lender-title workflows and integrating operations, Qualia has created a substantial breakthrough for the mortgage industry and their title partners.
