Alleged Capital One Hacker Charged with 'Cryptojacking'

Paige Thompson has been indicted on charges related to her alleged attempt to steal data from Capital One’s cloud servers and mine cryptocurrency. So reports the Seattle Times.

Thompson is a former software engineer who worked at Amazon and faces up to 25 years in prison. The indictment states: “Thompson sought to exploit the fact that customers of the cloud-computing company had misconfigured web-application firewalls on the rented servers.”
