Congressional Task Force Kicks Off with Mixed Fintech Feelings

The House Financial Services Committee’s recently created fintech task force held its first hearing on June 25. So reports JDSupra.

Rep. Stephen Lynch, chairmen of the committee, opened the meeting noting that many members of Congress were born into a world of traditional brick and mortar banks. The convenience and speed of fintech products were compared to the risks associated with them and that dichotomy was the theme of the hearing. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Securities and Exchange Commission and U.K’s Financial Conduct Authority were all represented at the meeting.
