FTC Settles with Fintech Brigit After Making False Ad Allegations

Fintech app maker Brigit will pay $18 million in customer refunds after settling a complaint from the Federal Trade Commission. So reports Kiplinger.

Per the regulatory agency, Brigit deceptively marketed “free and instant cash transfers” for consumers on a tight budget in order to lock them into the company’s paid monthly service program. Despite agreeing to the settlement, company representatives denied wrongdoing and said the regulator’s complaint is “factually inaccurate, misunderstand[s] our business, and go[es] against everything we have worked so hard to build on behalf of our customers.”
